Bottom line, I need to transfer some files from an really old IBM XT to a modern computer. I mean OLD. The hard drive is not IDE so I can't just slip it into another computer.
The optimal method, then, would be via direct connection using parallel ports.
There's an app called LinkMaven that would work fine if I could get a program on a 5 1/4" diskette that would take care of the DOS side of transfers.
But so far I haven't found an easy way to get the program onto the diskette. (Apparently a special pin-swapped cable is required if you want to hook up a 5 1/4" diskette to a modern motherboard.)
So I'm looking for some simple Basic code that I could easily type and run on the old XT DOS machine to send a file/files via the parallel port to another computer waiting with a vba app to receive and write them.
Can anyone help?
Thanks,
Jnana
